Nieuws MEDEDELING !!

Omschrijving | ABACUS (the name is based on the Greek / Roman
board game Abakus) is a "Krautrock legend". The
band, which was founded in Hamm in 1971, made its
breakthrough at the Germersheim Rock Festival (2nd
British Rock Meeting), where they were celebrated
in front of over 100,000 music fans as well as
Pink
Floyd, Wishbone and Status Quo, who also
performed.
In the 1970s Abacus released four long-playing
records, the last three of which were recorded in
Giorgio Moroder`s "Musicland" in Munich. Due to
the
records sold all over the world, numerous tours at
home and abroad, TV and radio broadcasts, the band
became a top act not only in Germany. Musical
differences led inter alia. in addition to the
fact
that the musicians separated in 1976 and found
their way back into the music business in 1979
under the name of the British Abacus forefathers
Grail. In 1982 the band got a contract with EMI in
Cologne under the name Abacus. In the further
course, contracts with Musea in France and Numusi
in Berlin followed with new releases on CD and LP.
In addition to the re-release of the first 4 LPs
on
CD, previously unreleased song material was also
released under the title “Archives 1-3”.
Five years after the release of their last album
"European Stories" and exactly on the 50th
anniversary of the band, the new Abacus longplayer
entitled "Highland Warrior" is now on the market.
"Highland Warrior" is a concept album, it is the
musical legend about Robert I, the first King of
Scotland (July 11, 1274, † June 7, 1329 in
Cardross, Dunbartonshire), better known as "Robert
the Bruce". |
