Nieuws MEDEDELING !!

Omschrijving | Although Ange has been active since the late `60s,
early` 70s, the band from France is by no means
defined as the sole steward of the past with
vocalist / keyboarder Christian Décamp being the
only original member. The current line-up is very
active with just some slight personnel changes
since the 2000s and offers not only live, but also
on the various studio albums a fresh, modified,
contemporary interpretation of francophile
Progressive Rock.
The aprox. two-hour concert, recorded on May 18,
2019 in Nancy for the live album "Escale Heureuse",
primarily focusses on the qualitatively appealing
last studio album "Heureux!" (2018). But it`s also
a powerful, rocking interpretation or continuation
of the band`s own history. Much of the material
presented here was also part of the set list of the
2018 appearance at the Night Of The Prog Festival
on the Loreley. Only the bombastically overburdened
`quasi-modo` is missing at this point, otherwise
it`s amazing to look back at their own history
including a small selection of 70s material. The
classic Ange albums are briefly touched only with
`Ballade Pour Une Orgy` "(from the 74 piece" Au-
delà du délire "), the obligatory Jacques Brel
encore `Ces gens-là` is also not missing while the
longtrack `Capitaine Coeur De Miel` (from the 77th
album "Guet-Apens") receives an extensive, nearly
20 minutes extensive tribute. Especially here
singer Christian Decamps shows his theatrical style
(visible on the accompanying DVD). However, his son
Tristan also belongs to Ange. He unfolds his full
vocal power in the `harmony` that accompanies the
keyboards. Instrumental it is above all guitarist
Hassan Hajdi, who sets the recognizable
cornerstones with his varied playing, from heavy to
soulful symphonic. Together with the tight rhythm
section Benoît Cazzulini (drums) and Thierry
Sidhoum (bass), the band is a compact, sometimes
playful unit. The mix of symphonic, slightly
chansonistic laxity and, above all, an almost
casual, infectious love of play and joie de vivre
pervades the entire album, in which just as the
epic longtracks from the current album can
convince. Almost 50 years active and still not
tired ...
